Athletics Weekly is the UK's number one website, magazine and social media hub for road racing, track and field and cross country, followed avidly by runners, athletes and fans. Working with a publisher of that standing was a brilliant challenge for our team: the site had to serve an enormous, passionate readership without ever slowing down.
A publication lives or dies by how easily readers can get to its content. Our design puts the stories first, with a structure that helps visitors move naturally from one piece to the next and imagery that captures the drama of the sport. The layout stays out of the way and lets the journalism breathe.
Performance shaped every development decision. Sports fans check news and results from the track side, the club run and the sofa, almost always on a phone, so the build is mobile first and relentlessly quick, with clean code keeping pages light even when they are rich with content.
The result is a website worthy of the UK's leading athletics title: fast, readable and built on SEO ready foundations that suit a publisher whose audience arrives from search in huge numbers. It stands among the projects our Poole studio is proudest to have delivered.
