Signs & Stickers Reporting Portal
A busy WooCommerce store whose data was locked inside it. We built a portal alongside the shop that answers the questions the store could not, and took their consent record back from a third party.
ViewMost PHP work is not a blank page. It is an application that already exists, that somebody else wrote, and that now needs upgrading, supporting or extending. We do that, and we build new ones too.
PHP runs a very large share of the web, which means a great deal of it is code somebody inherited rather than chose. The developer who built it has moved on, the PHP version underneath it is past end of life, and nobody is quite sure what will break if it is touched. That is the position most people are in when they come looking for PHP help, and it is the work we are set up for: reading somebody else's code, making it safe, and then making it better. We also build new applications, usually on Laravel. We are an in-house team in Poole, trading since 2010, and we work with clients across the UK.
Code written by someone who is no longer available, that still runs an important part of your business.
Applications sitting on a PHP version that no longer receives security fixes.
Someone to call when something breaks, and someone keeping it patched so it breaks less.
Bespoke applications built properly from the start, usually on Laravel.

Once a PHP version passes end of life it stops receiving security fixes, so newly discovered flaws simply stay open. That is a liability rather than an inconvenience.
If a single developer is the only one who understands a system your business depends on, you are carrying a risk that has nothing to do with the code itself.
Every year an application goes unmaintained, the eventual upgrade gets larger and more expensive. The cheapest time to deal with it is always now.
Wondering where your own website falls short? Tell us what you are working with and we will tell you honestly, for free.
Get honest adviceWe read what is there, work out how it hangs together and tell you honestly what condition it is in.
Moving an application onto a supported version, in stages, with testing rather than hope.
Keeping the framework, libraries and server software current, which is where most real risk sits.
New functionality added to an existing application without unpicking what already works.
Connections to the other systems you run, built to fail safely rather than silently.
UK hosting, monitoring and a team in Poole you can ring when something is wrong.
Sometimes an application is worth saving and sometimes it is cheaper to replace. We will say which, including when that means less work for us.
Developers, designers and marketers under one roof, and you are welcome to come and meet them.
Trading since 2010 with 400+ clients. We support and extend what we take on rather than handing it back.
Whatever we learn about your application gets written down, so the next person is not starting from nothing.
Rather talk it through? Call 01202 237027 and speak to the team, or send us a message.
Send us a messageWe look at the code, the database, the hosting and the PHP version, then report what we find in plain English.
Backups, patching and the urgent fixes come first, before anything cosmetic.
We agree what is worth upgrading, what is worth rewriting and what is fine as it is.
Work proceeds in stages you can see, with the application usable throughout.
A review is a fixed, contained piece of work, so you can find out where you stand before committing to anything larger.
The exact timeline and cost depend on your project. Tell us what you have in mind and we'll come back with both, no pressure.

Fox Wardrobes run the whole business through a single custom system, replacing scattered spreadsheets, paper cut lists and personal inboxes with one place where nothing gets lost.

A prestige car dealership needed order paperwork signed and paid without the endless chasing. The portal we built does the chasing itself, and keeps the record.

An estate agency whose listings had to stay accurate without anyone shepherding them by hand. We built a system around their property feed so the data keeps itself current.

PHP covers a lot of ground, from the most popular CMS in the world to a bespoke application nobody else has ever seen. These are the three we are asked about most.
By far the most common PHP anyone owns. Themes, plugins, performance and the security work that an unmaintained install badly needs.
What we reach for on new builds, and a framework we are happy to pick up when somebody else started it.
Older applications written without a framework, or on one nobody uses any more. Usually the ones people are most nervous about touching.
The questions people ask when they have inherited something and are not sure what to do with it.
Yes, and it is a good part of what we do. We start with a contained review so we can tell you what condition it is in before either of us commits to anything bigger.
Serious enough to deal with. Once a version passes end of life it stops getting security fixes, so any flaw found after that date stays open. It is also the kind of thing that fails a client's security questionnaire or an insurer's checklist.
It depends on how the application is written and how much of it you still want. A well-structured application is usually worth upgrading. One where the same logic appears in fifteen places is often cheaper to replace. The review tells us which.
It is a fixed, contained piece of work rather than an open-ended engagement, so you can find out where you stand without a large commitment. We quote it once we know roughly how big the application is.
Yes, and for anything business-critical we would push for it. Most of the trouble we are called into could have been avoided by someone keeping the dependencies current.
You do, along with the data. That does not change because we are the ones working on it.
Tell us what you are running and we'll come back with honest advice, including when the answer is that it is fine as it is.
