When a customer purchases an item on your Shopify website, you may have noticed that the related products they’re presented are assigned by Shopify itself. This doesn’t have to be the case.
Our experienced team have developed a custom code that works in tandem with Shopify’s standard related products setting. This allows you to assign any pair of products that you think your customer would be interested in. This quirk of customisation could bring about a subtle escalation in sales. You could even turn a customer onto a product they were unaware of!
Our client AWAY THAT DAY use our custom feature to their advantage. The images to the right are what the customer sees when they visit one of their product pages. First, they’re presented with the product they’re interested in purchasing. Upon scrolling down, our custom feature comes into view. This allows you to modify a “Goes well with” section, where you can insert products that you think would benefit from the exposure to the above product. Finally, Shopify’s related products feature comes into play. The best thing about our feature is that it doesn’t compromise the integrity of Shopify’s related products. It simply adds more options to purchase your products.
How does it work?
The way visitors are currently shown related products on your e-commerce site depends on your Shopify plan and store configuration. If you have over 7,000 products on your store, the customer is presented with items based on their purchase history or the product’s description – such as its tags. If you have less than 7,000 products, then the customer would be recommended another item in the same collection as the product they purchased. However, as we mentioned before, this doesn’t have to be the case. Our custom code works alongside this and could even prompt a further sale.
If you don’t believe us, then head over to the Analytics page in your Shopify admin. Under product recommendation, it’ll display a variety of metrics for understanding the performance of product recommendations over a designated period of time.
